"We just have to hope that Smeenk and Novak have the balls to play this right so they get the last drop out of them they can."
...and to hope that Spider's resolution gets 2/3 of the votes.
Cliffs reaffirming its strong will to proceed with SPQ, and requestionning their will to go on KWG side may produce a negative effect. We may see KWG's SP to lower a bit in the anticipation of KWG being squeezed, We may also see SPQ's SP rise a bit in the anticipation of a possible raised offer by Cliffs before the vote.
But also, looking at KWG going south, SPQ's shareholders would suddenly see what could happen to them if the merger fails, and if Cliffs then turns back to KWG, to have SPQ squeezed.
That kind of anxious vision is something investors (and their brokers) are very sensitive to. The sell button seems to grow considerably in size then, and becomes very loose... (Imagine SPQ SP goes to 16 cents, while KWG's falls to 12 cents... The tought "what if the merger fails" becomes somewhat frightening...)
What gives me some hope is those RS resolutions that were voted out... By a slight margin, however. If we get the same 2/3 votes, we'll get it. It will probably be a tight result anyways. More than the FWR or NOT votes we saw during the last take-over war...
