Whenever I start scaling into a sector I think is close to a bottom, my first move is to sell slightly out-of-the-money near term puts on the most liquid sector ETF. That way, if I'm early (which I often am), I have the luxury of collecting premiums, and any assignment would be at a lower cost. If the sector starts to run up, I can buy back the puts for pennies and jump into the stocks themselves.
