VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- 09/29/09 -- Strongbow Exploration Inc. (TSX VENTURE: SBW) is pleased to announce the start of an exploration program on its wholly owned Shovelnose gold property in southwestern British Columbia. The mineral claims are located near the southern end of the Spences Bridge gold belt, approximately 175 km east of Vancouver and 30 km south of Merritt along the Coquihalla Highway. Exploration activities are scheduled to focus on mechanized trenching of the Mik and Line 6 gold showings. Initial trenching of the showings in 2008 exposed massive to colloform banded quartz veins and local vein breccia zones up to 50 cm in thickness and hosted within moderately to strongly altered felsic volcaniclastic rocks. Highlight results of the 2008 work included 5.1 g/t Au over 6.0 m from the Line 6 showing trench L6-XT-04 and a prospecting sample that returned 119.4 g/t Au.
The current trenching program is intended to better evaluate both showings in an effort to identify target areas for a future drilling program. Detailed soil geochemical surveys have defined broad gold in soil geochemical anomalies (measuring up to 600 m x 1000 m) associated with both showings. These areas will be tested by approximately 300 m of trenching, as well as further mapping and prospecting surveys. The program is scheduled for completion by the end of October 2009.
Strongbow's 2008 exploration programs are conducted under the supervision of David Gale, P.Geo.(BC), Vice-President of Exploration for Strongbow and a qualified person under NI 43-101.
