Johan van't Hof, CEO
Johan is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Tonbridge Power Inc and is responsible for managing the executive team and setting and directing the completion of the Montana Alberta Tie Project as well as shaping overall goals of the company. Mr. van’t Hof has several years experience in project finance and utility privatization transactions. He was a project finance and privatization partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, in Toronto for ten years where he was head of the electricity corporate finance practice in Canada. While there, Mr. van’t Hof completed several electricity financing projects and privatizations in several countries around the world, as well as several transactions involving airports, correctional facilities and roads. He is lead director and chair of the audit as well as risk and finance committees of Crystallex International Corporation, an American and TSX-listed global gold company, and is a director of a number of private companies and charities.
Earlier in his career, he was seconded to the Ontario Securities Commission for a term in corporate finance and investigations. He has taught at the University of Toronto for twelve years, and at the School of Accountancy for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario for four years. He received an MBA degree from the Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto, and qualified as a chartered accountant in Ontario. He is a member of the Royal Canadian College of Organists. He was born in the Netherlands and is a dual citizen with Canada. He and his wife have been married for twenty nine years and have three grown sons all of whom have completed university degrees in various disciplines.
Robert van Beers, COO
Robert van Beers is Chief Operating Officer and Director of MATL and its parent, Tonbridge Power Inc. He has more than 20 years of international experience in the management, operations, regulation and financing of water and power projects.
Robert was Energy Practice Leader for CRA International in Canada until 2004. Prior to that, he was Director of Energy M&A Strategy with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Robert has led the deal strategy on large transactions in utilities; energy retailing; transmission; utility privatization and in financial and regulatory restructuring; working with clients from the world’s largest global energy (oil, gas and electricity) companies to regional utilities and start-up energy and infrastructure businesses.
Robert recently became one of Canada's first accredited Corporate Directors after completing the Rotman School/Institute of Corporate Directors' College. He has an Honours Bachelor’s degree of Economics and Sociology and a Master's degree in Public Administration from Queen's University. He also graduated from the Corporate Financial Strategy program at INSEAD.
Rob McFarlane, CBO
Mr. McFarlane is one of the founding partners of Tonbridge Corporation, a private merchant bank focused on the financing and development of infrastructure assets. Tonbridge Corporation launched Tonbridge Power Corporation, (a public company developing electrical transmission assets), in February 2005. Currently, he acts as one of the key leaders of Tonbridge Power particularly with respect to strategic initiatives and all financings of the business.
In the 1990’s Mr. McFarlane worked for Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce World Markets (CIBC). As an Executive Director their within Debt Capital Markets group, he was a senior relationship manager for institutional investment clients. His experience included leadership of various elements of debt capital markets activity including the trading, and sales of vanilla as well as structured and derivative products. A special area of expertise included municipal and provincial credit cultivated while managing CIBC's municipal and provincial bond books. Mr. McFarlane is also a veteran of the Eurobond markets through his role as co-manager of the banks Eurobond book during the North American trading session for a number of years.
Subsequent to his time at CIBC while adopting the role of investment/merchant banker he has advised a variety of businesses in their financing strategies while acting as principle in a number of these transactions. Mr. McFarlane holds a BA from the University of British Columbia, as well as an MBA from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. He has served on a number of advisory and charity boards and plays an active role in the community.
Caren Narvet, CFO
Ms. Narvet was appointed Secretary and Treasurer of Tonbridge Corporation in 2004. As Secretary and Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of the Corporation, she is responsible for its financial control and reporting and regulatory functions. Ms. Narvet has been a member of the board of directors of Delisle Youth Services, a multi-service non-profit agency serving families and youth crisis in Toronto for 3 years, and currently continues to serve on the finance committee for the organization. Previously she served as an account manager, commercial lending with the Bank of Montreal. A graduate of Victoria College, University of Toronto, she is a Certified General Accountant. Ms. Narvet provides her services to the Corporation pursuant to the management agreement and devotes substantially all of her time to the business, operations and affairs of the Corporation.
