FSN

I have decided to hold these thoughts back in order to thoroughly reflect upon them. I have done that - here they are.

1) I enjoy the FSN broadcast, particularly certain guests. I believe many of us hold similar political beliefs. However, political symmetry does not necessarily a good financial commentator make.

2) Realistically, over the last 2 years, there are few sectors that FSN could have discussed for overweight investing that would have performed worse than the PM juniors. Maybe banking would have won the (gold?) medal, but we are certainly up on the platform getting a medal.

3) Now, after the carnage, could there be a juniors divestiture plan in the works? This is one that remains to be seen.

4) The possible hammer to nail my opinion is the recent foray into bullion. By itself it's OK, but is it a bit self-serving? And starting by criticizing CEF, whose premium by the way is set by market forces because it's a closed-end fund. Every time management issues more shares people get upset because the resultant premium decrease affects the price. However, the # of oz of gold and silver per share always increases because expenses per oz decrease. CEF premiums are analogous to coin premiums - they are set by the market. When more coins come on the market, the premium decreases; when CEF issues more shares, the premium decreases. But gold and silver per share never decrease. Puplava dissing CEF recently is not appropriate, especially since he misrepresented the scenario as "dilution" which I believe it is not.

Is Puplava out for himself as much as the CEOs and pols that he criticizes? That remains to be seen, and I am not yet prepared to state that unequivocally, but I am not dismissing that quite yet. One thing I want to make clear - this post is absolutely not a reflection upon Webb and Tyhee management, which I personally hold in high regard. In the end, they may become victims as well, if holdings get sold. We'll see.
