Trust me, I know about risks in aviation.

Icing could kill the lift in the wings and make it impossible to control the descent. Engine failure could occur, and fuel reserves could prove insufficient to reach the destination.

But aviation has come a long way, and pre mission planning makes sure that the aircrew calculate the mission paramaters. During the mission, they continually re-assess fuel and weather, so that there is never any doubt that they will reach the destination with sufficent fuel to have reached the alternate.

As long as your pilot is professional, and the aircraft is airworthy.

But then again, there can be large ducks, lighting, or mid air collisions out of the blue.

I'm sitting in my first class seat right now, reading a magazine and very confident that the flight will depart on the (revised) time. I can accept occasional delays, and will make it safely to my destination.

Flying in CANADA is a lot safer than in Africa or Russia, even if the weather can cause delays. Also, DW is a very good pilot.
