Well, unless you are part of management or an insider, there is nothing inherently wrong (and definitely nothing meaningful) commenting that you heard a rumor. If you spread rumors that cause your friends, relatives and associates to lose money, you will need a smaller house because you won't be doing much entertaining. And, if you believe and act on rumors, you will be punished by losing your own money. So, common sense says, "listen to rumors but never repeat or act on them unless you are reckless with friends and money" . If the so-called rumor came from an insider, that is different again, it is not a rumor, just trouble.
