The big dawgs will probably try multiple defensive ploys:

1) ye ole Prior Art

2) attempt to have the relevant patent(s) reviewed by USTPO

3) in the case v. Samsung, they may claim they paid for tech

4) Fuji may claim they paid as well

+ multiple other mean ole copy cat ways to lengthen the process until they KNOW what happens with Vivitar. IMO, DM played it that way because they believe the case against Vivitar is an easier win -- if there is such a thing as an "easy" win.

One thing is certain, the big dawgs will not go quietly into that good night. They have egos and, in some cases, their Asian culture will make it difficult to give up and pay should their internal engineers be telling top management EDIG is full of smelly rotten Kimchi. (Ok, half right Kimchi is already smelly).

This may be a long process up to two years, then appeals should all the parties have a bad case of the redarse.

On the other hand, DM wants their payday and may be willing to settle for a lesser amount to fund the project -- I am WAY OK with that as we will see some of that cash, pay the light bill, and get a free muffin or cookie (cookies were really good, probably from Costco) at the ASM.

After that ---> later, rinse, repeat. Enough of that and we get to play a little more golf. Hmmm....make that a lot more golf.
