First, I trust your son is better and will recover fully. It is always tough to see a child in any kind of pain. Best wishes and God's speed for his recovery.

1. Multiple filings, negotiations, settlements.
2. Number/percentage of victories and amounts of revenues flowing to EDIG over a defined period of time as a result.
3. Appreciation of shareprice to levels which unequivocably make all of us happy and a little, or a lot, wealthier.
Primarily number 3.

1. Been there, done that with one settlement (~1.6M) in the piggy bank and one to come (WAG = $4M to $6M since"no discount."). The rest of the first seven mean ole copy cats are likely in negotiations, IMO. Maybe, DM is holding back on one of these to use for a Markman win. Of course, we don't KNOW, but filing additional suits could happen in the next 90 days as it seems DM is pushing. That's just my guess based on the timing of the first two. If the pace continues and allow for the Holidays, more filings in Jan or Feb is as good of a guess as I can make. Past what is found in court filings, the only other info comes from RP. I trust what he says as it seems he has been on target since Willy came on board.
IMO, Willy has played a far more important role than is publicly known. I beleive we will begin to see more results as airlines free up some cash due to jet fuel droping over 40% and many are flying full planes again. All good for the IFE side. What about the non-IFE biz? Just guessing, but I suspect this is where EDIG really steps ahead of that "P" company.
2 & 3. We simply need black ink on the books Q over Q over Q. Three Q reports with black ink and growing revs outside of the license deals will make for a steady and stable pps increase -- especially if it is the current market over the next 18 months. IMO, it will take that long to see the Promised Land....not that we can't see a lot of improvement in 2009. It is possible and even likely, just not showing off flash's foot wedge at Torrey Pines kinda good.
4. (my addition) The sale of eVU, or it's future editions, will be critical to EDIG's pps down the road as we see more dollars and more settlements. The perception of being ONLY a patent troll will not be good for EDIG, IMO. We need the traditional revenue stream even if it is not enough to sustain the company. Being smart with the settlement dollars will be a key and that's where Willy comes into the picture.
All worth the price paid.
