X- licensing

OK somebody....'splain this one. These cross-licensing agreements are apparently perceived by both sides as a plus. So we start with EDIG suing the other guy for infringing upon its IP. Then both sides negotiate and ultimately wind up with an " I'll show you mine if you show me yours" deal.

I assume EDIG asks for and gets some money for past sins. From what I've been reading on the board, this is held close to the vest by both sides as part of the total agreement, perhaps demanded by the sinner save face. We have to determine the amount of money by attempting to mine EDIG's financial statements to unearth the worth of these financial gems....which, till now, definitely do not qualify as the mother lode.

Back to the X-licensing. Are these deals all encompassing or are they limited. I could see why EDIG might give up all their IP for a really really big sum but Why would the other side give their's up....unless they think there's more value in EDIG's stuff. Know what I'm "sain"?

Comments? Yeah, like I have to solicit them. :>):>)
