What's volitile about a stock ranging between 10 & 11 cents?

I recall when I had a Wachovia acct, every time I bought a stock below $5, be it a pink sheet stock or not, I'd get a form letter that Wachovia considered any stock below $5 as speculative, and not recommended by them.

Every time a broker touches a buy or sell order, they get a commision...duh.
