It's not a matter of DM stepping aside. You're correct it would be a conflict of interest for them to participate since they would have a fiduciary relationship with both parties. Another firm(s) would take those particular cases entirely. I'm sure in such a situation DM would not give guidance or get involved in any way at all, but if they did and got caught...they would be shooting themselves in the foot, to say the least.
