MOD Systems and Toshiba Demonstrate Video Downloads to SD Cards at CES 2009

MOD`s Retail Kiosk Solution Downloads Movies in Minutes for Playback on a Range

of Consumer Devices

LAS VEGAS--(Business Wire)--

MOD Systems, an industry-leading provider of digital media delivery systems for

retailers, today began demonstrating secure digital video downloads to SD cards

with playback on a range of compatible consumer electronics devices. The MOD

Systems demonstration is offered in the Toshiba Booth (#12814) during the

International Consumer Electronics Show 2009 in Las Vegas.

Download time to an SD card for a full-length, standard definition movie is two

to three minutes depending on the file size. "With our system, consumers can buy

digital content in the places they already shop, as well as in new locations,

and then play it on SD-enabled compatible devices. The portability and

interoperability of SD cards solves many of the shortcomings of other digital

offerings," said Mark E. Phillips, CEO of MOD Systems. "SD card technology is

also evolving at an incredible rate, so while we`re pleased with current

download times, we`re very excited about the continuous progress we expect to

see in the near future."

The technology developments follow a $35 million investment from Toshiba, NCR

Corporation, and others, in MOD Systems` content platform for retailers. The

investment was announced in September 2008 as part of an initiative to give

consumers a faster, more portable way to download movies, TV shows, music and

other digital content at a wide variety of retail locations, and then replay it

on multiple devices.

"Digital distribution with MOD Systems opens up new avenues to bring movies to

consumers in a format that is highly portable and compatible with a wide range

of devices," said Yoshihide Fujii, corporate senior vice president and president

and CEO of Digital Media Network Company, Toshiba Corporation. "Downloading to

an SD card allows consumers to customize their selections and choose tiles from

a vast virtual inventory that`s never out of stock."

MOD Systems enables retailers to deliver digital entertainment to consumers

using interactive self-serve kiosks for downloading music and movies to portable

devices and SD cards. MOD Systems` growing entertainment catalog includes nearly

4,000 independent and major video titles, and nearly 4 million music tracks. The

catalog is part of the MOD Retail Enterprise System which handles all aspects of

securing, ingesting, and fulfilling digital content in retail stores. With

digital distribution, retailers are empowered to fill customer needs at the

point of sale while eliminating the need to order, stock, or return traditional

pre-packaged media.

MOD Systems is evaluating retailer pilot locations and partners for launch of

its digital video service in 2009. MOD Systems has a strategic alliance with NCR

Corporation, a minority investor in MOD Systems, to provide retailers with

interactive, self-service entertainment kiosks. NCR is a global leader in

self-serve retail systems for vertical markets, providing bank ATMs, airline

check-in kiosks, grocery self-check out kiosks, and entertainment kiosks to

retailers around the world.

"Consumers are leading a self-service revolution and MOD Systems digital

download solution brings immense value and convenience to both consumers and

retailers," said Michele Macpherson, vice president of entertainment, NCR. "With

in-store digital delivery systems and self-service kiosks, retailers can better

optimize their store footprint as well as extend their brands into new

environments and locations such as airports, convenience stores, or military

bases."
