So if Polis or any other entity with enough clout to negotiate with MM's to purchase a bunch of shares without the price increasing would mean:

1) They intend on buying a large amount of shares.

2) Large enough that they don't want the price creeping up as they do.

If such an entity was purchasing large amounts of shares, wouldn't they expect/hope to make a profit? Also you said "but if we don't get some positive news when the trades are done...we're not gonna be too happy". If this scenario were taking place it would not necessarily mean we would be getting the corresponding news immediately, besides wouldn't the fact that they were purchasing all these shares be pretty good news all by itself?
