Samsung is facing a huge court challenge with the Rambus case in Jan. where they could be assessed treble damages for price fixing. The EDIG case, also scheduled for early next year, is under the radar of most observers but it could potentially be a major case as well. I bet Samsung wants to see it go away and, in fact, is making it happen right now. If Samsung owned Edig and ,hence, the patent portfolio, could that be used against RMBS? Could that be any part of their stategy? I know the RMBS case is really about price fixing but if RMBS is infringing against EDIG patents then Samsung as owner of the patents might use that to turn the tables. I know this is a stretch but since I own EDIG and RMBS it comes to mind.
