"why not add the ethernet port"

IMO, they do not want the device utilized as a modem gateway...one person...one account...

No freebie access for friends and family.....and they definitely don't want you to enterprising with it....ie networking events.

I wounder where they enshrine the Smartcard in this device....under the battery?....lol
