response is not a precursor to a USPTO request for reexam. Forgive me if that sounds negative, but I simply can't believe that all the "big guys" are simply going to roll over and pay us without dragging it out and making us work for it. Do I think the patents are valid - absolutely. Do I think we would eventually win - absolutely. But I also know that the USPTO becomes a serious fly in the ointment and can really try our patience. I'm not saying that is what is happening, but I'm also preparing myself mentally for the long-haul if a request for reexam become reality. Edig will continue, just as Patriot has, to settle with other infringers while the patent review drags on, but most likely with reduced amounts. Sure hope we aren't going that route because it is no fun.
