I post Apple issues not to dot connect and to speculate. This is however an indication of what courts are evaluating, what infringements and cases are being considered/filed and what is being decided by the courts in terms of judgements and payouts.

If you think that large companies are not paying attention to issues such as these then they have poor management. They should be evaluating the risks/benefits of their potential infringements and what it might cost them if someone calls them on it.

The more legitimate cases like these make the news, my feeling is the more likely the companies are likely to pay attention and address the issue earlier and settle.
