What has been portrayed by some as wild speculation and leading some astray, is now a legal matter to be settled either by settlement (10 for 10) or in the courts....hardly wild. Patent protection has always been a part of the equation.
Who was misled? Patents can, and do, produce handsome profits for those who own them. Patents in key, billion dollar markets are that much more likely to hit significant settlements. We see that everyday in the market and EDIG is in motion to see how significant their patents are, with DM's expert guidance.
What no one knew back then was the time frame for it all to play out...and no one is to blame for that. An 11 year time frame does not work for everyone. Some, like myself, adapt.
The concept of investing in key patents in growth markets is a solid consideration....but one without guarantees of results or time frames....hence the speculation.
"This speculation as you say, however, might very well mislead people and this should not be part and parcel of the purpose of this thread"
On the contrary, the degree of speculation is the point of these threads, to learn as much as one can regarding the prospects and projections, market sentiment, then decide to what degree one chooses to speculate/participate, and then place your bets accordingly.
