So much for the Samsung Galaxy Tab and its high price tag. Here is a tablet that also run on Android and comes at extremely down to earth prices. For a paltry 99$ you can pick up one of these tablets, and it also makes a nice gift for tech savvy friends and relatives in the approaching holiday season.
However, before getting into what the Maylong M-150 Android tablet packs in, one should be forewarned so as not to expect a world of goodness for that amount of money. So its 7-inch of resistive touchscreen having a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels that greets you first thing about the tablet. On the inside, its an ARM9(VM8505+) CPU coupled to a 256 MB DDR memory that does duty. For connecting to the Internet, the M-150 includes Wi-Fi b/g though there is no 3G option available. While its not known how much of storage the tablet provides for, the SD card slot can ensure it remains within decent proportions.
Walgreens is promoting the tablet as a nice and handy entertainment device that can be used to read e-books, access e-mails, play games, listen to music or watch videos. The device can also be used to watch youtube videos which is further aided with its built-in speakers.
On the software front, the M-150 runs Android 1.6 though what can be even more disappointing is that it can’t be upgraded as more and better version of Android become available. However, while this is still unconfirmed, what is confirmed is that its Android 1.6 that the tablet will come with out of the box. And those who might be feeling that’s too way back, they can have solace from the fact that the Dell Streak too came with Android 1.6.
The M-150 Android tablet from Maylong which is known for their GPS units is currently available online from the Drug superstore Walgreens and is charging $4.99 as flat shipping charges on top of the $99 price of the tablet.
