The companies we've settled with have a license on our Flash-R patent portfolio but some PR's like this Samsung PR say they have a license on e.Digital's foreign and domestic patent rights, including the company's Flash-R portfolio.
"Samsung obtained a license and release on e.Digital's foreign and domestic patent rights, including the company's Flash-R(tm) patent portfolio."
If the new E.D.I.G. division is successful in getting patents like NUNCHI, I would think interested companies would have to pay a new licensing fee for those even if they have a current license, right? A current license shouldn't include any future patents of the company. Or maybe that's why they created the new E.D.I.G. division, to require existing licensees to pay for a new E.D.I.G patent license.
Opinions?
