What the posts suggest to me is that EDIG is using the re-exam not just to get the patent revalidated against claims of prior art, which they appear to be confident of doing, but also to clarify and settle once and for all the issue of RAM vs. Main Memory, which caused so much trouble during the Markman hearing and which the judge completely misinterpreted. Rather than pursue this through the courts by appealing the judge's decision DM is, as Minister pointed out, taking the much more expecient and effective route of working with experts in the USPTO to make the patent crystal clear and to render Judge Krieger's ruling irrelevant.
