Emit, those are all hot areas today, collectively known as cloud computing. The big guys, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Apple are all offering SAAS and PAAS for free, to anyone who signs up.
The big question is how are they going to make revenue on these services. Data Mining. When you use these services, they get to pour through your data and mine the information, and use it however they see fit. If you read the terms of service, they let you know that, but most people just click accept.
Can a small company break into cloud computing? Maybe.
Nunchi could be a great source for data mining. Collecting data on where you have been, what resturaunts you eat at, banks you go to, who you talk to, conversations it might overhear, etc. Lots of good data to mine. Apple and Google do this to some extent, but have been under scrutiny for privacy concerns.
Personally, the less data collected about me the better. But thats just me.
