Companies pre-announce all the time. What would have been wrong with a statement saying something to the effect "during the past quarter we settled with X number of companies for an aggrigate dollar amount of Y, complete financial information will be provided in the Q3 financials in mid Feb?" Maybe not real proud of the dollar amount and want to make as many other settlements that they can prior to the official announcement? Hope not.
