yes, even though pc's had BIOS way before 1996; our interfacing/coulpling of flash made sandisk what it is in the world of handhelds, along with all the other copy-cats from there on.

sorry about my stupid Q as pertaining to LT mem being the processor. I was taught the basics units of a processor was CPU/ALU/CU/Busses-IO/Cache. I was assuming the only LT storage withing the processor I could think of was ROM/BIOS because it's non-volitile. Bringing us right back to -
''Claim 1 is a BIOS issue to non-volatile memory...such as flash memory''
Which has had me scratching my head since day one; you to obviously.
I'm still probably off base, pay no attention.
