While I personally have no background in IP protection,(although my cousin is a patent attorney), we are quickly getting schooled on how small companies can thrive if they bother to protect their IP.
I am sure there are many who would have liked to see ptsc shrivel up and die before standing up for their IP. Many companies work feverishly to undermine the efforts of anyone they perceive as a threat, while using their technology without permission...bothering to deal with it only if it becomes an issue down the road and make the payoff if forced.
There is no doubt that EDIG has had flash memory patents for handheld devices, noted since 1993 and that they were well ahead of the game in focusing on that market, though without any commercial success. But many others have had success in the handheld markets, to the tune of a $25 billion market, and IF EDIG can bear the burden of proof, there will be a windfall of profits to be had.
The ball is in EDIG`s court and they are moving forward with their plan to monitize their patent portfolio. Blakeley`s background is credible. He is moving forward on this, with the hope and belief they will be vindicated.
If I was one of a number of giants, I would be watching closely, especially on the heels of ptsc`s latest results.
Hope, belief ? All part of why investors take stakes in underdog otcbbs.
