News: Blackbird : Receives Approval for Power Plants in Sri Lanka
10/20/2014 | 08:02am US/Eastern

OAKVILLE, ON, Canada, via ETELIGIS INC., 10/20/2014 - - Blackbird International Corporation (OTC Pink: BBRD) (PINKSHEETS: BBRD), is pleased to announce that its recently acquired company Wave Electricity Renewal Power Ocean Ltd (WERPO) (http://www.sde.co.il/), has received an official request for its technology in Sri Lanka. President Percy Mahendra Rajapaksa extended an invitation in order to assist in solving the energy crisis in his country.

WERPO has already obtained approval of the Cyclon Electricity Board which is the controlling Electric Company of Sri Lanka. Additionally, approval has been granted by the Board of Investment in Sri Lanka as well as the necessary environmental approvals in order to start building the Power Stations.

WERPO is going to start with a 10 MW power station in the City of Matara. It is planning together with the Government of Sri Lanka the approval to build 20 additional power stations of 10 MW.

Sri Lanka is surrounded by a coast Line with High Waves and can benefit from WERPOs small power stations so that it may have clean, cheap and sufficient electrical power.

The Inventor of WERPO and SDE's technology, Shmuel Ovadia explains the exciting news in getting the Patent approval as WERPO has already set up a company in Sri Lanka named SDE Sri Lanka PVT CO. LMT. WERPO has already planned funding for the project from International agencies. A grant is expected from the OECD/World Bank for promoting environmentally clean and efficient energy. He adds, We have set up a business plan of receiving a return on investment within four years. WERPO will receive revenues from the building of the power station and especially from the sale of electricity at the rate of 10 cents per MW.

Although Sri Lanka has a good electrical platform run by coal and oil, the Ministry of Technology and Research, and Climate Action Network South Asia (CANSA) states that unless there is a shift towards alternative energy, the country will not be able to meet the need for oil and coal which is used to power the generators.

WERPO shall determine the number of power plants which will be required in Sri Lanka.

WERPO sea wave technology is also very cost efficient. The cost of constructing a 1 MW power plant is $650,000 compared to $1,500,000 for wind power equipment and $3,000,000 for solar energy. WERPO offers a rate of $0.02 per KW of power while the cost is $0.03 for coal, $0.12 for solar and $0.036 for wind power energy.

WERPO is completing the regulatory preparations in order to commence is operations in Sri Lanka.

The system developed by WERPO has the ability to supply 500 times more power than current worldwide sea wave energy consumption.

To date WERPO has built 9 power stations which were financed by the Israeli government. WERPO is constantly improving its technology. The latest version can produce 60KWh with only one buoy of which 10% of the whole system is in the water which minimizes the risk to the structure in cases of storms.

About Wave Electricity Renewable Power Ocean (WERPO)

The technology developed by its affiliate, SDE Ltd, is based on the utilization of sea waves to yield hydraulic pressure that produces electricity while exploiting the full potential of wave speed, height, depth, rise and fall, and currents beneath the surface of the water. Scientists from around the world claim that using 1% of wave energy can provide the equivalent electricity of 500 times the world energy consumption. Energy density in waves is high compared with other renewable energy sources such as wind power and solar power. Over a year, the energy output is approximately 3 times that of solar or wind technology.

Results and experimental fieldwork conducted in Israel and abroad indicate that the energy production from sea waves by SDEs technology cost of 2-6 cents for 1KW, a significantly lower cost compared to other renewable energy technologies (for example, wind energy 12 cents, Solar Energy 16 cents).

In addition, SDEs technology allows an annual output of 65% significantly higher yield compared to other renewable energies (wind energy an annual output of 24%, solar energy an annual output of 22%). One added benefit of the technology, says the company, is that it bears low production costs of 2 cents per kilowatt-hour only, though governments are willing to pay between 8 and 44 cents per kWh for use of the system.

One added benefit of the technology, says the company, is that it bears low production costs of 2 cents per kilowatt-hour only, though governments are willing to pay between 8 and 44 cents per kWh for use of the system.

SDE was selected by a team of international scientists as number one in the world in Sea Wave Energy Technologies, numbers six in Tidal Energy and River Energy, and was ranked as one of the Top 100 Clean Energy Technologies. SDE had been invited to Ecuador by the minister of renewable energy and electricity to come and introduce its unique technology. Ecuador has special interest in building Sea Wave power plants in different protected fragile sites around the Galapagos Island such as Isla Santa Cruz, Isla Isabela, Isla San Cristobal, Isla Baltra, and Isla Floreana.

The Israeli company with its proven track record of installations across the globe has several projects around the world with government entities as well as with the private sector. SDE has established 11 joint ventures with local partners in 9 different countries including a second project in China.
