Supreme Committee for Development Plans meets

MUSCAT — The Supreme Committee for Development Plans met yesterday under the chairmanship of His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers.
The committee reviewed a number of priority matters especially those related to implementation of projects included in the current Eighth Five-Year Plan and the previous plan.
This was made in the context of efforts being made to bring about a comprehensive development and achieve best grades of growth in the economic and social sectors.
The committee reviewed a report compiled by a working team on challenges to implementation of the plan development programme, and its recommendations in this respect were also approved.
The committee also viewed a visual on the Al Batinah coastal road implementation in the presence of the Minister of Housing and Deputy Chairman of Supreme Committee of Town Planning, Minister of Transport and Communications, Under-Secretary of Transport and Communications and Secretary-General of the Committee of Town Planning.
The committee underscored the need to prepare for future plans in advance to allow all units the opportunity to prioritise their projects.
The committee also stressed the importance of making production projects that make available job opportunities for citizens and that such a project should be planned while considering regional distribution.
The bodies concerned with execution of the planned projects shall report regularly on implementation as scheduled. — ONA
