No, not the 'send private message' option.

When you create a new message you have the default option selected which is 'message' or you can select the other options of 'Question for Agoracom' or 'Off topic Message'.

The later 2 options flag the message as different from normal messages and can be as such identified at the time you choose to read the posting or not.
