Peru's gold output soars 9.1% inJuly

Lima, Aug. 29 (ANDINA). Production of Peru's gold increased 9.1% to 14,013 kilograms in July from 12,845 kilograms in the same period last year, while output of other key minerals continued to decline, the country's Mines and Energy Ministry said.
Meanwhile, silver production in Peru, the world's largest producer of that precious metal, declined 8.27% to 286,598 kilograms from 312,430 kilograms on lower output from various mines, including Volcan Compania Minera and Compania Minera Ares.
Copper production was 100,478 metric tons in July, down 5.66% from 106,503 metric tons in the year-earlier period.
Zinc production was 22.72% lower at 103,455 metric tons, according to MarketWatch.
Among some other minerals, the government said lead output declined 12.44% in July to 19,737 tons.
Molybdenum production fell 1.12% to 1,400 tons. Iron output rose 40.71% to 553,667 tons, while tin production declined 5.87% to 2,757 tons.
