Iced, I agree with your statement that there are no neutral results, and that we try to put a positive spin on news releases. That's because we try to believe there is good, even if it isn't. The glass is never half empty. Many of us interpret statements and rationalize them to suit our hopes. For example the China trip. I too expected some generous move in sp and volume after the "high level meetings", thinking that of all the people there, some would see some value in SLI, but like often, we did not think of the definition of "high level" in the mind of any of us. There is the fact that much of this type of meeting is organized by individuals, getting paid for it and even paying "high level" attendees for showing up for the photo ops.
Most of us don't want to think of this type of possibly orchestrated setup, because it doesn't fit into our expectations.
We need news releases that are complete, with results and explanations that leave no room for different interpretations.
White has to be white and actions or expenditures have to show measurable and visible results, not maybes. Big thing are coming means nothing. What is big, what are things, coming from where and to whom?
. Just some thoughts, that may not be everyone's piece of cake.
