Keep in mind, the opinions on this site are for the most part speculation and are not necessarily the opinions of the company WITHOUT PREJUDICE
I have just come back from a week away and have been disconnected from SLI...now after reading through the 9 pages of posts and listening to the audio from the meeting, I have a few thoughts...
First, While if alcohol was in fact an issue it would be horribly inappropriate...it is not the real issue as I see it. I think the real issue is that the Calgary meeting was by all accounts unprofessionally conducted. Period.
It is an increasingly disturbing trend which has the CEO of a publicly traded company having difficultly acting professionally even at a rudimentary level...one incident can easily be chalked up to a bad day, two maybe so...but 5,6,7 or more?....There is a saying I once heard...."if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...it's probably not a sofa"
That all being said I am here because I believe in the property...and it is clear to anyone who has read my posts that I am still here in spite of the direction of management.
I have been around the corporate world long enough now to have seen all walks, so this is not one iota personal....it is just business for me. I support management to the degree that they can do thier job no more or no less.
I would like everyone to consider something...
Many supporters of the company/property call out to those who are justifiably or not angry/disappointed/frustrated/anxious/nervous/insert adjective here...to stay calm, take the high road, remain professional in light of recent events as it will only be a detriment to the strength of the SP if one does the opposite...
...Why is it that the onus is on the shareholders to conduct themselves with such high standards and not management themselves? Who is ACTUALLY responsible for if the company succeeds or fails, is percieved as professional or not?...the Shareholders or Management?
I grow SOOOO very tired of the apologists for those in management who have shown serial unprofessionalism when those are the very people that are responsible for protecting the many millions of dollars of shareholder equity..this responsibilty IS inarguably the single most important responsibility of the CEO and directors bar none.
So when someone within the company acts unprofessionally in any regard...do not be surprised if the public criticizes it...and PLEASE stop being an apologist for incoherence, ignorance, bigotry, classlessness, poor judgement, etc...
Always remember there is a VERY big difference between supporting your investment and supporting individuals within the company.
Just one man's opinion,
S.
P.S. I do not, under any circumstances, support classless personal attacks (although it is inevitable in our Internet and TMZ culture)...however I certainly support and encourage diligent consideration of managements actions and holding them accountable for those very actions if only at the very least by discussing and questioning them.
