Oh rebels1,
You've probably been around many years and you've definitely missed a lot.
For example, you think accountants are good with numbers and that Engineers aren't. Boy have I got news for you. I have a son who's a Mechanical Engineer and my wife in 2 accounting companies. And I also have a number of CGA courses myself.
Engineers are so much further ahead than accountants when it comes to using numbers that you wouldn't believe it.
Engineers can literally fill up pages and speak in numbers. For example, my young fella can fill up 2 or 3 pages with types of calculus including integration and that's all he needs to descripe a solution for perhaps a complex pressure problem in a special type of drill that he might be designing.
Two of my other children completed BCom degrees in which they took numerous accounting courses and they certainly didn't have to crunch the numbers like engineers do.
In short, being an accountant is an art not a science. They don't necessarily have to be good with numbers but of course they should have some clue with regard to how the numbers represent a company's financial circumstances, etc.
Now, I don't know Jurek, but because he is an engineer means he is so far ahead of you with regard to numbers (unless you are an engineer) that really you would have trouble judging him.
One of my 3 degrees is in Physics and Math and I don't feel as confident as an Engineer in using Mathematics.
So nice try rebels. I can assure you that many of us joined AGORACOM on that same day when they changed the format on StockHouse and when you get to my age, you probably wish that there was more LOVE-INS.
Best Wishes,
Lynn
