First off, as mentioned, the Terrane buyout by TCM was in 2010 when the markets were still rallying. And yes, during that time of the rally there were a few stocks that did increase from 15 to 20 times. Secondly, the way you worded it "20 times your money from the market price" makes it sound like shareholders on record received a buyout valuation of 20 times their money, which they didn't. The buyout premium based on the closing shareprice prior to the buyout announcement was 21% premium. And during the rally from the 2009 lows, other stock such as Teck had a nice rally, going from sub $4 to over $60, so when the conditions are right, it's certainly possible.
