I work in this area for the federal gov't. If there are no fish then there is no legislative clout under the Fisheries Act to bring to bear on the water body. This immensely simplifies things and is a big reason I invested in CUU. The reason there is no fish is because its an alpine habitat that is nutrient limiting to begin with.

There are other federal pieces of legislation that come into play but the FA is one of the biggest.

I suspect that even with a majority gov't the liberals won't be able to "undo" the damage to the legislation inflicted by Harper for some time to come. Such changes take time and I would like to hope that Schaft Creek will have it's EA in hand by then. Given the years of baseline studies already in hand, carried out by the Tahltan themselves, I think we are in good shape on this front.
