It's number 2 that frightens me, and this has been quite a disappointing trip thus far.

The fact is, time is on Chavez's side. He can wait us out. If Sr. Mgt has come to this conclusion, they most certainly could be preparing for themselves a golden parachute. After all, if they know this is a dead duck, why bother stringing it out for 12 months when they can make it 6 months and throw in the towel.
