So, If Electrovaya's NMC battery gets a 6000 cycle life, that is 16 years. Automotive OEMs only want a 10 year battery life. After all they are in the business of selling cars. If a battery lasts longer than that, their customers base will disappear. So why does Electrovaya not have any Automotive OEMs using their battery? Cost ! It is so expensive the OEMs could not sell it.
Take a look at the new Solid state battery cell. (Yet to Be Announced) Rumor is that it has better energy density than the NMC cell. That means more driving miles between charging. Rumor is that the manufacturing costs are about half of what it costs to manufacture the NMC cell. That means automotive OEMs will look at it for one of their electric vehicles. The solid state cell also must with stand environmental conditions, heat, cold & wet. It also must take a nail being driven thru it without catching fire. Still waiting on Electrovaya to announce their pouched solid state cell and maybe an up date on additional testing of their coin cell.
"Lets Go Electrovaya"!
