Fast movers

There are many fast moving stocks in this sector. Today for instance, SOI went up 77% because of bonanza-grade samples. The problem is that such companies have very little to no cash and almost the only way to attract more cash is to hurt shareholders through dilution. I know nothing about this company's (i.e. SOI) management team and their financial situation is certainly not very promising. Should one invest purely based on promising grab samples? This is a question I am constantly facing. Usually I end up investing only a small amount of money in such companies ($1,000 max) because the risk is enormous.
