Golden Minerals is a junior silver producer with a strong growth profile, listed on both the NYSE Amex and TSX.
"Funds who own the index have been buying ECU, to adjust those index positions, and had until close of extended trading yesterday to do so"
Van Eck's GDXJ needed 10 mln shares. It seems they tried to buy in earlier in the week in normal day trading, probably bought 2 mln shares then and, since it wasn't that easy, decided to acquire the remaining 8 mln yesterday after hours in a coordinated manner.
This should boost ECU's status a lot. There must be private funds that watch and follow the composition of the GDXJ. I hope much more buying will come from there. The fact that ECU has more than 300 mln shares outstanding must make it an attractive portfolio component.
I am looking forward to see the trading volume permanently increase from here on.
