I'm no techie either! Here, when talking "applicattions", I'm speaking of the demands of the processor - what tasks it is expected to perform. While I'm far less familiar with FORTH, I know that the primary intent for JAVA was for very simple tasks, e.g., monitoring/reporting/activating in conjunction with household appliances, building heat/cool level maintenance (a "glorified thermostat" that could be monitored remotely) and such, and NOT for heavy lifting/complex computing - just simple/fast computing. I doubt the history remains, but I recall those price ranges for the ShBoom if taken to high-volume production. Maybe Moxa can remember, or Ease or some other very long term Long.
FWIW,
