According to documents filed with the FCC, Verizon is planning to deploy their home femtocell service on January 25. Femtocells in essence create a micro-cell tower in the home, extending the range and strength of wireless phone signals, while allowing users to route calls over the Internet -- reducing strain on local towers. According to leaked documents obtained by
Engadget, the device should retail for $250, though given this is Verizon -- we're guessing you'll probably pay a month fee and pay much less for hardware if you're willing to sign long-term contracts.
