Apple comment

I am still haunted by the comment made by Dan Leckrone at the PTSC SHAM of, I think, 2011 maybe 2012 (Marc, Stan et alia correct me on the year). When talking about Apple he said something like "It's not always about the money, sometimes there's something more."
Does anyone know what was meant by "something more". Did he mean the prestige of have Apple as a licensee and the assumed fear-factor that could be? Doesn't the trivial fee actually reduce any "fear factor" effect, Apple or not?
