For me, actually it is comforting to see his mannerism be so conservative and humble. It is a little anti-Nemis whom I love but I believe having a balance in the office is very important and Richard and Neil sometimes are like two kids in a candy store. Being involved in minning all their lives and finding the Ring of fire at this stage of their career is just like they are in a candy store with no parents or staff!! It is hard for them to contain themselves and they get frustrated when they see the SP where it is and so on. John offers a more reserved approach and this may help to keep everyone grounded there and keep them on track and focus on the task at hand. I see it as a positive and as Nemis pointed out: NO BAD NEWS!!
