As for the cost increases in mine development, you are correct to point out that costs are increasing as more companies try to get recent good discoveries into production. However not all projected coat increases are equal as the list at the bottom of the article you posted show.
Ask your self why is it that Barrick involved projects have the lowest projected cost increases and Teck-Cominco involved projects tend to have astoundingly huge prijected cost increases.
Could it be that Teck-Cominco is a very BAD investment?
Could it be that Teck-Cominco is only doing a Shell "Oilsands" STUNT?
Shell announced they were unded cost and ahead of schedule on an Oilsnads expansion 3-4 years ago and were at that time about to be in production with that phase of their Oilsands Expansion Plans. The Shell expansion back then (the 3-4 years prior to the scheduled start of production) was ALL modeled and financed/constructed based on $35.00 OIL. By the time they were ready to start production (about 3 - 6 months before start of production Shell announced the Ahead of Schedule/Under Cost boast) a new World Spot OIL Price FLOOR was being bantied about as being in the $45.00-$55.00 range. Soon after Shell stated they were initiating a new costing Accounting/Review for every Development Phase at their Oilsands Project. Several more month went by when they came back and announced that not only was futuer development going to cost far more than twice the Very meticulous and professional planing and calculating of their highly skilled and experienced Engineerinf and Accountanting staff, they went on to state that their highly touted and well respected Engineering and Accounting staff were INCORRECT on the cost of the by then completed and producung New Production Phase, and the costs, which were already incurred and very well accounted for six months earlier were, in RETROSPECT, ALL INACCURATE and the new cost projections for work completed and payed for a full 1-3 years preceeding will NOW be more than DOUBLE what they actually were six months earlier.
Just try to figure that one out. Are Shells highly touted and experienced Engineering and Accounting Staff correct the first painfully careful time around when Oil was projected to have a long term $35.00 price or were these same highly trained and skilled Professionals (Shells Engineers and Accoutants) correct AFTER the FACT in their revised Esitimaes of work already completed and strangely enough POST FACT were then more than double what they actually were?
Thus, we need to consider every thing with a 'grain of salt' as has been stated here by many back in October- December. But consider as each individual see fit. For this Investor, the more matters, however diverse the spectrum, considered, the BETTER.
What does and should matter most to all Investors in Noront Resources is the confidence they place in Noront Resources Management Team. Questions that should be first and foremost in Investors minds would include:
Is Management trust worthy?
Will and does Management act and plan with the best interests of the Share Holders in mind?
Can and are Management getting the job of creating Share Holder value done? AND in a reasonable manner and time frame?
Now, how each individual Investor goes about formulating their own personal thoughts on thare types of questions (assuminf the even do) is their business and their problem (for the complainers).
Noront Resources eight months ago saw fit to contract this HUB on Agora for a purpose, I do imagine, and many have availed of the service. Make of it what you desire and or can. Even, to a limit, the childish attention seeking complaining is helpful for consideration sake. Though it tells little if relevance or value respecting Noront Resources, it is still telling.
