Sorry, misread your post. Its the 50% "grade" you questioned, not the 50% Cr2O3 content of the chromite.The intent of my original post was to present a range of chromite contents (grades) of the chrome ore, from a low of 25% to a high of 75%. Your estimate of 40% is as good as any at this time.
