I agree with all that you say except to add that contacting your MLA (in Ontario) would be more effective than contacting your MP.
Securities Regulation is a provincial matter so MLA's outside of Ont would not be interested. The Feds are trying to get control of regulation from the provinces. Now there may be some political points for the Feds to show this as an example of provincial mis-mangement but I don't think it is a big enough issue given the attention to economic woes. Members of the opposition may be more likely to take a swing at it.
If someone more eloquent than me, could post a summary of the situation as you suggest
"...from the date leading up to the annual general meeting until today."
I think many of us would send it to out MLA's and MP's as well as to Flaherty.
