No, I don't think you could have a joint TFSA unless the totals of all are less than $5,000. I could have worded that better. The TFSA is in their names only and I have trading authority on them. Their bank accounts are joint with me simply so that they show up on my internet banking page.
And R.R. you have pointed out that your advisor has said that you can put it all back in even if it exceeds $5,000. When I tried to clarify it early in the year with CRA I spoke to a few different people there and got a similar response to what you have stated. I eventually got a supervisor that told me that $5,000 is the maximum that could go back in from this year. I called a second time and was told the same by somebody else. That was in January and there seemed to be a lot of misunderstanding even at CRA. I retired yesterday so I'll have plenty of time on Monday to check again and report back here. It sure would be nice if you could return it all. Cheers, Brent
