This is another perfect example of the problem so many investors have with the market.
I am reading all the reasons why people place the blame on market rules or market manipulators for their inability to prosper from their investments. In this case it is from a bunch of insiders that knew about this PP, sold off their present holdings to raise the cash for it, and leave the retail investor on the hook with a deflated SP. This is wrong.
There is only one way that an investor will succeed here. They must understand that these are the rules and how to deal with them, rather than how to change them.
I am a retail investor. I had no more idea of this PP happening than anyone here did. I have done a lot of research on Flo thru private placements, and am a big fan of them, and always keep some dry powder handy just for them,as per following example;
In 2009, I had a very good gain from my holdings in FWR, as did a lot of us. At year end I put most of my gains into flo thru PP's in order to relieve my tax burden, and was successful enough to reduce my total tax to less than 1% of my gains. Due to the 4 month hold on the shares I have been very restricted in any investing over the intervening time period, however the hold periods are now expiring, and I have the ability to return these investments to cash, and use it for other purposes. One large one happens to be SPQ, which will result in a 4 bagger considering the tax gains, and it is all going right back into NOT on this present placement. The tax savings from NOT will alleviate the gains from the SPQ investment
The above has been accomplished with no prior knowledge of things, nor any ability to manipulate the market, or any other nefarious acts. It is accomplished by paying attention to what is happening, keeping yourself in a position to act on events rather than trying to change them, and a positive attitude.
Best regards
