I am not mixing apples with oranges! You are making an assumption that is not correct.

Using your example of of 100m and 3%, when one does a NI 43-101 one does not use that assay for area to next hole which may be 100+ meters away. Each hole represents the center of a small cell, day 20x20 or 25x25m at maximum.
So if you in fill and find only 2% that does not take anything away form the 3% cells because it is not in the 3% zone but in an unknown area in between known cells. That is where the label IN FILL comes from.
I suspect I will not convince you so I will wait for Hoov, or anyone else with geological background, to comment.
