Good discussion. While there are regulations by the OSC as to how public companies are to operate with respect to many matters,there appears to be no one "watching " the day to day activities of all the listed corporations . It is generally left to the companies themselves to operate under good business practices and to stay within the regulations of the OSC,etc. Who is to say that they always do?? Who provides the checks and balances?? Only when there is clear evidence of violations does the OSC step in and their investigations seem protracted in any event . They seem inadequately staffed to do regular monitoring and IMO we have what we have . A system that is far from perfect,leaving all kinds of room for potential manuevering to the benefit of some .
